In the spring and summer of 1674, some patriotic New England natives not only stand their ground, they begin to fight for it. That fall, a meeting of the United Colonies in Plymouth leads to a very deliberate act of war – the public execution of prominent New England natives in America’s hometown, Plymouth. Both alliances choose war as the means of a peaceful end. The Colonial Army’s most feared “captain” is never commissioned – but his tactics work. The native alliance is being brokered by Metacom, anglicized as King Philip. Metacom will start something he cannot finish. Unbridled racism and wanton disregard for human rights, amplified by stripping Mother Earth of her natural resources - these are the dangerously familiar motifs of “Rumors of War”.
